1st Circ. Judge 'Roe' Denies $1B Lotto Winner's Secrecy Bid

A panel of the First Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a Maine man who won $1.35 billion in the lottery cannot proceed anonymously in a lawsuit over an alleged violation of a nondisclosure agreement, affirming a lower court's refusal to seal the trial or allow pseudonyms. Sigmund Schutz and Alexandra Harriman of Preti Flaherty represented the Maine Trust for Local News, which intervened to oppose the use of pseudonyms and closing the trial to the public.
