Michael Lane is Vice President and General Counsel of Charter Title Company and is a Partner practicing with Preti Flaherty’s Real Estate Group. He represents clients in all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, obtaining federal, state and local regulatory approvals; commercial and public financing, and title and conveyancing matters. Michael has substantial experience in underwriting and negotiating title insurance coverages involving complex multi-state, multi-million dollar commercial transactions, particularly in the areas of energy, industrial and timberland properties in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Michael is a Member of the Title Standards Committee of the Maine Bar Association and is recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, the highly regarded legal directory which ranks firms and individual attorneys in the areas of Real Estate and Timberland/Conservation. He is also a Member of the New England Land Title Association, the Society of American Foresters, the Forest Resources Association, and the Maine Forest Products Council.

Tarilyn Thorso is President of Charter Title Company and is a senior real estate paralegal with Preti Flaherty. She has been involved in the real estate industry since 1996 and has 16 years of experience in title insurance underwriting and negotiating title insurance coverages. As an agent for numerous title insurers, Tarilyn routinely underwrites multi-million dollar title insurance policies for large commercial projects throughout Maine. Her areas of focus include nursing homes, paper mills, hospitals, hydroelectric facilities, hotels and forestry land. Tarilyn’s skills include preparation of documents, facilitation of closings for commercial transactions and due diligence for multi-state merger and acquisition transactions.

Tarilyn is a licensed title insurance underwriter in Maine and earned an AAS in Paralegal Studies from Andover College and a BA in Art from the University of Southern Maine.

Ginger K. Libby

Ginger Libby is Associate Vice President of Charter Title and a junior real estate paralegal with Preti Flaherty. With more than eight years of experience in real estate transactions, her concentration is title abstracting, preparation of documents, facilitating closings, and drafting title commitments. Coming from a copyediting background, Ginger has an eye for detail that has greatly influenced her ability to grasp the nuances of title work. Ginger has a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Paralegal Studies Certificate from the University of Maine at Augusta.
