Sigmund Schutz to Speak at Freedom of Information (FOI) Institute

Sigmund Schutz, a Partner with Preti Flaherty, has been selected by the New England First Amendment Center to join the faculty of the 2012 FOI Institute. From September 30th to October 2nd, the NEFAC will provide hands-on FOI, investigative training to journalists.

According to the NEFAC, "The institute will educate a select group of New England journalists in how to be open government watchdogs in their communities and how to report their findings to the public," NEFAC President Mary Jane Wilkinson said. "Our goal is to prepare them to take on leadership roles in their newsrooms on FOI issues."

The FOI Institute is presented by NEFAC and Northeastern's Initiative for Investigative Reporting.

Schutz will co-present with Mo Mehlsak, editor of The Forecaster during a breakout session on FOI issues that relate to Maine. He will also speak on Collaborative Litigation in the FOI Context.
