David Van Slyke Elected President of Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation Board of Directors

Preti Flaherty attorney David Van Slyke, Chair of Preti Flaherty's  Environmental Practice Group, has been elected President of the Board of  Directors of Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation.

Founded in 1982 as a nonprofit organization created to enable those with  physical disabilities to participate in snow skiing, the organization has since  grown to add three winter sports and a full summer program, including golf,  cycling, paddling, hiking and fishing. Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation,  formerly known as Maine Handicapped Skiing, also offers specialty programs for  veterans and active-duty military with physical disabilities.

David has had a longtime involvement with Maine Adaptive, including serving  as the organization's pro bono General Counsel since 1999. He is a Partner  practicing in the firm's Portland office and is a nationally recognized attorney  in environmental law with a distinguished career at the U.S. Environmental  Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.
