Preti Flaherty Attorneys Recognized for ILAP Support

Several Preti Flaherty attorneys were recognized for their support by the The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) in its 2021 Annual Report. ILAP's goal is to help low-income immigrants improve their legal status and promote more just and humane laws and policies affecting immigrants.

Among Preti Flaherty's contributions to ILAP's ongoing work is the firm's participation in the Immigrant Children's Project, which aims to increase legal support for young people in Maine. As noted in the Annual Report:

A central component of [The Immigrant Children's Project] is the development of a Pro Bono Panel dedicated to representing [Special Immigrant Juvenile Status] cases in Maine state courts. . . . ILAP worked to train and mentor a group of pro bono attorneys at the Portland law firm Preti Flaherty. Michael Messerschmidt, who comes from a family of immigrants, was among those who stepped up. "My family was welcomed here, so I wanted to return the favor," he reflected.

The list of ILAP supporters includes donors, Pro Bono Panel attorneys, language and legal volunteers, committee members, foundations, businesses, and organizations who have contributed to this important mission.

Preti Flaherty attorneys recognized in the report include:

Mariana Baron
Timothy J. Bryant
Kristin M. Collins
Bodie B. Colwell
Todd J. Griset
J. Spencer Hoffman
Nelson J Larkins
Jonathan G. Mermin
