Preti Flaherty Named ILAP 2020 Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year

The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) has named Preti Flaherty the 2020 award winner for Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year. Each year, ILAP recognizes outstanding volunteers and community partners working on behalf of Maine’s immigrant communities to help vulnerable young people gain a path to permanent immigration status. This award comes in recognition of Preti Flaherty’s efforts in partnership with ILAP’s Immigrant Children’s Project

As Maine’s only state-wide immigration legal services organization, ILAP advances justice and equity for immigrants and their families through direct legal services, community education, and systemic advocacy. ILAP began in 1993 as a volunteer lawyer project providing assistance to approximately two dozen asylum seekers in Maine. Today, ILAP attorneys and legal staff and more than 250 volunteers serve over 3,000 clients, and conduct education and outreach on immigration law issues for about 1,700 people annually.
