20 Preti Flaherty Attorneys Selected for Inclusion in Best Lawyers 2014

PORTLAND and AUGUSTA, ME and CONCORD, NH (August 28, 2013) — Preti Flaherty announced today that 20 Preti Flaherty attorneys from its offices in Portland and Augusta, Maine, and Concord, N.H., have been selected by their peers for inclusion in the soon-to-be-released 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, a highly regarded directory of attorneys and law firms in the United States.

Inclusion in the 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® is considered a top honor as less than three percent of the nation's lawyers are listed in the guide, which are chosen by their peers and organized by practice area. The 20 selected attorneys include:

From the Augusta, Maine office:

  • Severin M. Beliveau–Administrative/Regulatory Law and Government Relations Practice
  • Anthony W. Buxton–Energy Law
  • Joseph G. Donahue–Administrative/Regulatory Law, Communications Law and Energy Law
  • Bruce C. Gerrity–Administrative/Regulatory Law and Franchise Law
  • James C. Pitney, Jr. –Public Finance Law

From the Concord, New Hampshire office:

  • Sigmund D. Schutz–Litigation-Environmental and Litigation-First Amendment
  • Eric P. Stauffer–Corporate Law
  • David B. Van Slyke–Environmental Law and Litigation-Environmental

In addition to the practice area listing, Preti attorney David B. Van Slyke was named Lawyer of the Year for 2014 by Best Lawyers for his work in Litigation-Environmental.

Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 25,000 leading attorneys cast almost two million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers "the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."
