Benchmark Litigation 2013 Recognizes Preti Flaherty's Litigators in Maine and New Hampshire

Preti Flaherty announced today that the firm has recently been ranked in the sixth edition of Benchmark Litigation 2013, the definitive guide to America's leading litigation firms and attorneys. Preti Flaherty was recognized as a "Highly Recommended" law firm. In addition to the firm ranking, three Preti Flaherty attorneys have been listed as local "Litigation Stars," including Jonathan Piper and Gregory Hansel in the firm's Portland, Maine office, and William Saturley in the Concord, New Hampshire office.

Two Preti Flaherty attorneys have been listed as "Future Stars" including Sigmund Schutz in the Portland, Maine office and John Sullivan in the Concord, New Hampshire office.

Benchmark Litigation highlights some of the attorneys' recent representations such as the firm's work recovering $18.5 million for a class of concrete purchasers in Iowa in a major antitrust case, along with Gregory Hansel's work as lead counsel on the case, which Judge Bennett wrote, "Through their extremely skilled and efficient efforts, Class Counsel marshaled sufficient evidence and achieved settlements that were highly favorable to the class members – all within a year and a half of the original case filing. This case has been to me what it was like when I stood before da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's David, observing the great masters' works."

Also noted is Jonathan Piper, Managing Partner of Preti Flaherty, who is "routinely praised by peers for his considerable trial experience with a focus on commercial, media, antitrust and professional malpractice." Benchmark also recognized the firm's Concord, New Hampshire office, writing that "the firm's litigation capacity in Concord is bolstered by the recent addition of litigation star William Saturley."

Benchmark Litigation identifies the leading US trial attorneys and firms at the local and national levels. Focused exclusively on the US litigation market, the publication's rankings and editorials are the result of extensive interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house counsel. Supplementary firm information is also submitted in the form of a questionnaire. The guide's "local litigation stars" reflect lawyers who are recommended by peers and clients to have established consistent reputations as trial attorneys, while "future stars" are those litigators who are highlighted as likely to be become "local litigation stars" in coming editions. Benchmark's independent research is conducted annually between February and June.

Preti Flaherty's Litigation Practice is one of the largest and most respected litigation practices in northern New England. The Group provides consensual or mandatory ADR, domestic or international arbitration, and trials in state and federal court. Its experience is varied and extensive, including noteworthy successes in matters such as class action litigation, toxic tort litigation, securities claims, anti trust matters, professional liability litigation, construction claims, lender liability claims, injunction of governmental agencies on constitutional grounds, and libel defense of national publications and broadcasters.

Licensed in over a dozen states and numerous federal courts, the firm's litigation team consists of over 30 litigators, including four senior partners who each bring 30+ years of trial experience to the group.
