Timothy Bryant Speaks at International Franchise Association (IFA) Annual Legal Symposium

June 24, 2010 (Portland, ME) – Timothy J. Bryant, an attorney with Preti Flaherty in Portland, ME, recently spoke at the 43rd Annual Legal Symposium of the International Franchise Association held in Washington, D.C. Bryant co-presented a session entitled "How to Say "Yes" to Sales Without Saying "No" to Best Practices." He also co-authored a paper on the topic, which provided best practices associated with the sale of franchises, ethical considerations when advising franchise clients during the sales process and common sales compliance issues. Bryant presented with Troy Brader, Chief Development and Legal Officer for International Dairy Queen based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The IFA Annual Symposium is attended by franchise law professionals from around the world and includes a yearly review of updates in franchise law and related cases. It also offers a track of sessions geared toward attendees who are first entering the franchise industry.

Bryant practices Franchising and Distribution Services Law, as well as Business Law and Litigation, with Preti Flaherty. In his Franchise Law practice, he has assisted numerous franchise businesses with expanding their operations on regional, national and international levels, including the creation of franchise, area development, joint venture and related agreements as well as state and federal regulatory compliance.

He is listed in Woodward-White's The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the area of franchise law. Bryant was also recently nominated by his peers as one of 125 attorneys nationwide to be named a ‘Legal Eagle' by Franchise Times magazine.

Bryant is admitted to practice law in Maine and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Villanova University School of Law. He is a resident of Falmouth, Maine.
