Preti Flaherty Welcomes Attorneys Patricia J. Ballard, Arianna M. Caldwell, and J. Spencer Hoffman to the Firm
Preti Flaherty is pleased to announce the arrival of attorneys Patricia J. Ballard, Arianna Caldwell, and J. Spencer Hoffman. All three join the firm as members of our Business Law Group and represent our ongoing commitment to expanding our services and capabilities to meet the needs of our multifaceted roster of corporate clients.
Patricia (“Tricia”) Ballard is a Preti Flaherty alum who rejoins the firm’s Concord, New Hampshire, office as Of Counsel after several years practicing transactional and creditors rights law and government affairs and administrative litigation in Lexington, Kentucky. She is a graduate of Boston College Law School, where she was a member of the Business Law Society and a senior editor and writer for the Uniform Commercial Code Reporter-Digest. She earned a B.A. in Communications Studies at Merrimack College.
Arianna (“Ria”) Caldwell joins the firm as an Associate, practicing from the firm’s Portland, Maine, office. Prior to joining the firm, Arianna served a diverse list of corporate clients at distinguished law firms in Stamford, Connecticut; New York City; and Washington, DC. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review, was a counsel representative of the Student Bar Association, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She earned a B.A. in Economics at the University of Washington and studied International Relations and Economics at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Spencer Hoffman joins the firm as an Associate, with his practice primarily focused out of the firm’s Portland, Maine, office. In addition to supporting the firm’s business law practice, Spencer will bolster the firm’s thriving Real Estate Practice Group, advising clients on financing and tax issues associated with real estate transactions—continuing the work he did at notable law firms in New York. Spencer is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School, where he was a contributor to the Journal of Law and Policy and a member of Phi Delta Phi and held internships at the New York State Housing Finance Authority and an international asset management firm. He earned a B.A. in Political Science at Colorado College.
In commenting on the significant number of hires made by the firm in the past 14 months, Preti Flaherty’s Managing Partner, David B. Van Slyke, said, “Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the Firm is in the fortunate position of needing to further expand our ranks. Tricia, Ria, and Spencer each exhibit the skills, experience, and dedication we need to support our corporate and real estate clients and are welcome additions to our Business Law Practice Group. Their arrival is met with great excitement and high expectations.”
