Biography

Spencer is a member of Preti Flaherty’s Real Estate and Finance and Corporate and M&A practice groups in the firm’s Portland, Maine, office. He advises regional, national, and international clients on a wide range of matters, including real estate financing and tax issues; mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; complex commercial transactions; and general matters of corporate law. The focus of his practice is providing counsel related to the acquisition, disposition, and financing of commercial real estate assets. He also has experience with advising clients in connection with the development of affordable housing financed by low-income housing tax credits, municipal bonds, and/or real property tax abatements.

A graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Colorado College, while in law school, Spencer interned at the New York State Housing Finance Authority and was a member of the Journal of Law and Policy. Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Spencer served as an Associate at two prominent real estate law firms in Manhattan.

Spencer lives in New York with his wife, Sarah, and daughters Alice and Olivia.
