Jeremy R. Fischer Joins Preti Flaherty as Co-Chair of Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group

Preti Flaherty is pleased to welcome Jeremy R. Fischer as the Co-Chair of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy practice group. He previously served as leader of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring group at a Northern New England-based law firm.

Fischer is widely recognized for achieving exceptional results in the courtroom and at the negotiating table. He advises major constituencies in high stakes Chapter 11 cases, including financial institutions, bondholders, official and ad hoc creditors’ committees, asset purchasers, trustees, DIP lenders, directors/officers, and debtors. He also represents parties in out-of-court debt restructurings, receiverships, loan sales, and distressed M&A transactions. He also serves as a trusted advisor and outside general counsel to both troubled and healthy companies in a broad range of industries, including finance, insurance, transportation/logistics, and long-term care/healthcare.

“Jeremy is a top-notch, high-profile bankruptcy attorney and a highly respected strategic advisor in the broader legal and business community,” said Mike Smith, Preti Flaherty’s Managing Partner. “His experience, and his deep understanding of the economic climate in Maine and New England, make him an asset to our firm and our clients.”

“I’m excited to join Preti Flaherty and to help lead a practice group that’s so immersed in business matters and economic development in the region,” Fischer added. “My focus has always been on practical, results-oriented solutions that position clients for long-term success, and Preti shares that approach.”

Prior to beginning his legal career, Jeremy served three terms in the Maine Legislature and was the House Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Since leaving office, he has worked extensively on public education and rural economic development issues.
