Preti Flaherty Welcomes Attorneys S. Michael Adams, II; Colin T. Barrett; Thomas J. Druan, Jr.; Nicholas P. Janzen; and Thomas C. LeBlond to the Firm

Preti Flaherty is pleased to announce the arrival of attorneys S. Michael Adams, II; Colin T. Barrett; Thomas J. Druan, Jr.; Nicholas P. Janzen; and Thomas C. LeBlond.

Mike Adams joins the firm’s Real Estate and Finance Practice Group in the Portland, Maine, office. He is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and the University of Southern Maine. A decorated former Combat Engineer with the Maine Army National Guard, Mike served a nine-month tour in Afghanistan. He joins Preti Flaherty following two years at another Maine firm, representing community banks and credit unions on commercial real estate and business matters. 

Colin Barrett joins the firm’s Litigation Practice group in the Boston, Massachusetts, office. He is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School and Stonehill College. Colin served as an investigator in the Massachusetts Office of the Bar Counsel after receiving his undergraduate degree in criminology and later while in law school. He joins Preti Flaherty following a successful stint at a prominent national law firm in Boston, Massachusetts, where he focused on commercial, consumer finance, and employment litigation, as well as internal and government investigations.

Tom Druan joins the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Boston, Massachusetts, office. He is a graduate of the UNH School of Law Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property and Brown University. Prior to law school, Tom worked as a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and as an Engineering Contractor in the ESS Division of Northrop Grumman. He brings 22 years of overall IP experience, including ten years running his own IP law firm.

Nick Janzen joins the firm’s Energy and Telecommunications Practice Group in the Portland, Maine, office. He is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and the University of Alabama. While in law school, Nick was an extern to the Hon. Kermit Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and at the Conservation Law Foundation. He joins Preti Flaherty following a clerkship with Justice Jabar of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Tom LeBlond joins the firm’s Litigation Practice Group in the Portland, Maine, office. He is a graduate of Boston College Law School and the University of Maine. While in law school, Tom was an intern at the Massachusetts Superior Court. He joins Preti Flaherty following a clerkship for Justices Ellen Gorman and Rick Lawrence of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and a clerkship for the Connecticut Superior Court.

In commenting the firm’s continued growth, Preti Flaherty’s Managing Partner, David B. Van Slyke, said, “Even in the shadow of uncertain economic times, Preti Flaherty continues to expand. These five new arrivals represent the kind of strategic growth and eye to the future that allows our firm to service client needs across the broadest array of service areas possible.
