Intellectual Property Attorney Denise C. Lane Joins Preti Flaherty's Concord, N.H. Office

Preti Flaherty is pleased to announce that Denise C. Lane has joined the firm as a Director. Lane will practice Intellectual Property Law from the firm's Concord, New Hampshire office.

Lane brings extensive experience in intellectual property law to Preti Flaherty. She has represented the diverse patent and trademark needs of individuals, start-ups, and Fortune 500 companies. Her practice includes strategic intellectual property counseling, litigation and dispute resolution, opinions, licensing and technology transactions, intellectual property mining, and prosecution. Lane's client-counseling practice develops strategic patent programs that posture the client's portfolio to strengthen market position and generate licensing revenue. She concentrates in patent claim interpretation and design-arounds, working closely with clients on new product launches to minimize the risk of litigation. Her areas of technical focus are medical devices, computer software and hardware, mechanical and electrical devices, and biotechnology and chemical products.

Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Lane served as Director of Intellectual Property and Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance at Medtronic Advanced Energy (formerly Salient Surgical Technologies). As Director of Intellectual Property, she was responsible for expanding and protecting the medical-device company's domestic and international patent and trademark portfolio, directing intellectual-property litigation, and negotiating patent and trademark licenses.

Lane also served as a Partner in the IP Litigation Practice Group at Blank Rome in Washington, D.C., where she was a first- and second- chair patent and trademark litigator focusing on complex IP litigation and transactions before federal district courts, appeals courts, and the ITC. She gained expertise in a broad range of patented technologies and trademarks.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, she practiced as an associate with the Litigation Department at Sherin and Lodgen in Boston, MA.

Lane received a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is a graduate of Boston University School of Law. She is a registered patent agent, admitted to practice law only in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, and is a member of the bars of the Third, Tenth, and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a native of North Andover, Massachusetts, where she currently resides.
