Attorney Betsy E. Wakefield Joins Preti Flaherty’s Business Law Group

Preti Flaherty is pleased to announce that Betsy E. Wakefield has joined the firm. Betsy will practice with the Business Law Group from the firm’s Portland office, where she will be counseling banking and finance clients in connection with secured and unsecured commercial lending, tax-exempt financing, commercial real estate matters and general corporate matters, among other responsibilities.

Betsy earned her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and her B.A. from Brandeis University. Born and raised in Maine, Betsy worked for ten years in the insurance industry prior to pursuing her law degree. While in law school, she held internships with the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar and TD Bank, N.A., and served as a student attorney for the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Betsy was an associate at a notable Maine law firm.

David Van Slyke, Preti Flaherty Managing Partner, said, “Betsy’s keen attention to detail and ability to strategically analyze information in service of her clients makes her another strong addition to our Business Law Group. She brings a knowledge of project management that makes her an invaluable resource for the people she represents, and we are excited to have her join our firm.”

Betsy is admitted to practice in Maine and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. She is a resident of South Portland.
