Mastraccio bills would address meth housing decontamination

Maine State Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio has introduced a bill that would require landlords to have buildings decontaminated and tested after the discovery of a meth lab. She will be introducing a companion bill that will require sellers of residential properties to disclose whether the property has been used for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Preti Flaherty attorney Andrew Cashman, who represents the Maine Association of Realtors, said the agency opposes both bills because existing seller disclosure laws already requires the proposed disclosure.
