Steve Wilson Appointed to INTA Judicial Administration & Trademark Litigation Subcommittee for 2016-2017 TermDecember 7, 2015
Steve Wilson, Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Group, Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Group, and Member of the Litigation and Business Law Groups at Preti Flaherty, has been appointed to serve on the Judicial Administration & Trademark Litigation Subcommittee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Enforcement Committee for the 2016-2017 Term.
Founded in 1878, INTA is the global association of trademark owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property in order to protect consumers and promote fair and effective commerce. INTA's members include more than 6,700 organizations from 190 countries, and contribute almost $12 trillion to global GDP annually. INTA is headquartered in New York City, with offices in Shanghai, Brussels, and Washington DC, and representatives in Geneva and Mumbai. INTA’s member organizations represent some 30,000 trademark professionals, including brand owners from major corporations as well as small and mid-size enterprises, nonprofits, and government agency members. INTA undertakes advocacy work throughout the world to advance trademarks and offers educational programs and informational and legal resources of global interest.
The Enforcement Committee analyzes judicial and administrative rules and procedures affecting the timely and effective enforcement of trademarks and business identifiers, and develops and advocates policies to further harmonize and strengthen trademark rights. Areas of focus include trademark litigation, opposition and cancellation proceedings, courts and tribunals, and discovery. The Enforcement Committee is comprised of almost 200 INTA members from around the globe who provide input on the relevant laws and practices in their respective countries and develop INTA policy in the enforcement sphere.
Steve earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law, where he received a Concentration in Intellectual Property (ranked within the top 10 law school IP programs in the U.S.), was awarded honors as an Edward F. Hennessey Scholar and ranked within the top 10% of the 3L Class, and served as Vice President of the Communications, Entertainment & Sports Law Association (CESLA) and Third-Year Editor of American Journal of Law & Medicine. Steve assists clients with trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
