David Van Slyke Appointed by Governor LePage to NEIWPCC

David Van Slyke, Chair of the firm's Environmental Practice Group and Co-chair of the firm's Climate Strategy Group, has been appointed to the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) by Governor Paul LePage.

Established in 1947, the NEIWPCC was originally formed to set water quality standards and classifications among the Northeastern (New England plus New York). The Commission's role has evolved to include wastewater treatment, as well as related public outreach, environmental training and assistance. It is composed of five commissioners from each of the seven member states. The members are selected based upon their experience in water and wastewater issues.

David Van Slyke is a nationally recognized environmental lawyer with a distinguished career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. He joined Preti Flaherty in 1991 and is a former member of the firm's Management Committee. He is an active participant in all aspects of the firm's environmental practice, including compliance counseling, environmental audits, defense of enforcement actions, project permitting, due diligence in business and lending transactions and environmental risk management.
