November 15, 2004 PORTLAND, Me. - Preti Flaherty’s Sigmund D. Schutz
is the newly named Chair of the Board of the Southern Maine Chapter of the
American Red Cross. The Southern Maine Chapter serves 56 cities and towns
served in Cumberland and York counties.
The American Red Cross of Southern Maine is dedicated to preparing,
connecting and responding in the communities of southern Maine -
providing relief to victims of disasters, lifesaving CPR and First Aid training,
emergency messaging for members of the armed services and their families, and
international refugee tracing.
“It is an honor to lead an organization like the American Red Cross that
touches the lives of so many,” said Mr. Schutz. “The Southern Maine
Chapter is governed by a local board of directors, supported by a hundreds of
volunteers, and must raise 100% of the funds necessary to prepare, connect, and
respond to the needs in Southern Maine from the local community.”
Mr. Schutz practices with the firm's environmental and litigation groups, and
has extensive experience in the firm's media law practice, which is the largest
in the region. In his media law practice, Mr. Schutz represents many
