Preti Flaherty attorney Deirdre M. O’Callaghan has been elected to serve a three-year term on the University of Maine’s Board of Visitors. The Board of Visitors serves as an advisory board to the University President and to the Chancellor on issues affecting the Orono campus. O’Callaghan is graduated summa cum laude of the University of Maine and a partner at Preti Flaherty, practicing in the firm’s Environmental, Energy and Utilities and Business Law practice groups.

The University of Maine Board of Visitors reviews matters such as tuition and academic program proposals, and long range fiscal and operating plans, prior to review by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees. The Board of Visitors is also an advocate for the University in promoting support from the Trustees, the state legislature and agencies, the governor, the media and the public.

O’Callaghan has also served on numerous boards, including the boards of directors of the Maine Lawyers for the Arts and the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Maine Alumni Association, York-Cumberland Housing Development Corporation and the Maine Women’s Network.
