Appointed as President of the nonprofit inaugural and transition commission,
Severin Beliveau led the commission that was responsible for coordinating the
selection process for Governor Baldacci’s gubernatorial appointees. The
commission also organized and obtained financing for the inauguration ceremony
and celebration.
The commission oversaw the selection process for various government
positions. It’s efforts also resulted in four days of inaugural activities
kicked off by Baldacci's swearing-in and included a Maine Winter Wonderland
themed inaugural ball. The cost of the inaugural and transition events is
expected to exceed $400,000, of which the state provides $5,000. The balance is
privately raised.
