Four Attorneys Join Preti Flaherty

Four attorneys have joined Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau, Pachios & Haley, LLC, one of the largest law firms in Northern New England.  They have joined the firm's Environmental, Litigation and Business Law Practice Groups.
Benjamin S. Bilus joins the firm's Environmental and Energy & Utilities Groups, bringing to the firm more than twenty years experience in a wide range of legal fields.  Formerly Senior Associate Counsel for Champion International Corporation, and subsequently International Paper Company through IP's acquisition of Champion, Mr. Bilus principally handled environmental and energy matters for the $6 Billion forest products company. He was also responsible for product liability and toxic tort litigation and real estate transactions.  Prior to Champion, Bilus was an associate with White & Case in New York City.  Bilus graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.  Admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, Bilus lives with his wife and three children in New Canaan, CT.  He will practice from the firm's Maine and Connecticut offices.
Andrew W. Crocker joins the firm's Environmental Group.  His experience is in land use, administrative, environmental and civil litigation matters.  He was previously an associate with Linowes and Blocher in Silver Spring, MD, and a clerk for the Connecticut Fund for the Environment in New Haven, CT and for the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.  Crocker graduated from Hobart College, earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac College School of Law and earned his Masters of Law in Environmental Law from George Washington University Law School.  Admitted to practice in Maryland, Crocker lives in Brunswick with his wife Angela.

James M. Hanley practices with the firm's Business Law Group.  His practice will focus on corporate matters, with a specialty in tax and estate planning.  Hanley previously served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General's Honors Program, served as a law clerk to the Honorable Neil L. Lynch of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.  Also a Certified Public Accountant, Hanley worked in the tax department at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Boston prior to attending law school.  A native of Westwood, Massachusetts, Hanley graduated from the University of Notre Dame, and earned his J.D. from Boston College School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in Maine and Massachusetts, and serves as a volunteer for Catholic Charities of Maine and Maine Elder Legal Services.  He lives in Portland with his wife Bethany.
Joseph W. Corrigan joins the firm's Litigation Group.  He concentrates in the area of Workers' Compensation.  Prior to joining Preti, Flaherty, Corrigan was a law clerk at a small law office in Portland, an Intern for the President's Council of Economic Advisors, and a Research Assistant for the World Bank.  An Oakland, Maine native, he graduated cum laude from Colby College and earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Commercial Law Award at convocation.  He is admitted to practice in both Maine and Massachusetts.  Corrigan resides in Portland.
