PORTLAND, Maine (November 17, 2008) – Attorneys Chelsea E. Fournier
and Anthony R. Ten Haagen have joined Preti Flaherty as associates in the firm’s
Portland office.
Fournier will practice in the firm’s Business Law Group with a
concentration in business planning and intellectual property law. A
former Beliveau-McCarthy Fellow, she served as a summer associate at Preti
Flaherty in 2006 and 2007. Prior to joining the firm, she worked with
Gosselin & Dubord PA in Lewiston and held law
clerk positions with two Massachusetts firms.
Fournier received her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law
earlier this year, where she received an Israel & Sumner Bernstein Memorial
Scholarship. She is a 2005 graduate of Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass.
During law school, she was an intern with the Legal Services for the Elderly
Scarborough office, where she worked with the legal staff to represent elderly
clients in administrative hearings and legal matters. She also served as
the Research Editor of the Maine
Law Review and as Co-Chair of the Women’s Law Association.
A native of Lewiston, Fournier is a resident
of Portland and
serves on the advisory board of the Bates Dance Festival.
Ten Haagen will practice in the firm’s Health Law and Litigation
Groups. His litigation work will concentrate in the area of medical malpractice
defense. Prior to joining the firm, Ten Haagen was a legal intern with the
Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Mass.
and a legal and legislative intern with the American Cancer Society, New England
Division.
Ten Haagen received his law degree from Boston University School of Law
earlier this year and is a 2005 graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. At Purdue, he served as a two-time
Captain of men’s swimming and diving team.
During law school, Ten Haagen conducted research for the U.S. Anti Doping
Agency that focused on their compliance with the American’s with Disabilities
Act. He also completed a BU Law Externship Program with the Boston Medical
Center HealthNet Plan and served as a note editor for the American Journal of
Law and Medicine.
A native of Newington, N.H., Ten Haagen is a resident of Portland, ME and serves on the board of directors of
Maine Swimming, Inc.
