March 15, 2006 – Portland, Maine – Preti Flaherty today announced three new
attorneys have joined the firm, strengthening its Business Law, Litigation,
Labor and Employment Law and Real Estate Law practices. Robert S. Carey has
joined the Business Law and Litigation groups as an associate in Concord, NH.;
Michael L. Lane has joined the Real Estate group as an associate in Augusta,
Maine; and Foy Meyer III has joined the Litigation and Labor and Employment
Group as an associate in Portland, Maine.
Robert S. Carey joined the Business Law and Litigation groups and will
practice from the firm’s Concord office. Robert’s practice is focused primarily
on complex civil and criminal litigation, including white-collar criminal
defense, medical malpractice defense, products liability litigation and business
litigation. Robert previously served as assistant attorney general for the New
Hampshire Department of Justice and practiced with two Boston law firms. He is a
graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston and Trinity College in
Hartford, Conn., and is admitted to practice in both New Hampshire and
Massachusetts. He resides in Bow, N.H.
Michael L. Lane joined the Real Estate group and will practice from
the firm’s Augusta office. He brings a strong real estate and timberlands
practice to the firm and has represented clients in all aspects of real estate
and land use law. Michael has handled complex timberlands transactions involving
acquisitions and sales, as well as Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC)
development compliance and permitting. He is admitted to practice in both Maine
and New Hampshire and is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law in
Portland and the University of Maine in Orono. He is a former resident of
Portland and currently resides in Bangor, Maine.
Foy Meyer III joined the Labor and Employment and Litigation groups
and will practice from the firm’s Portland office. Foy launched his legal career
with a Texas firm where he built a practice focused on commercial litigation and
cases relating to labor and employment, including labor arbitrations, disputes
before administrative agencies, and lawsuits involving claims of discrimination,
harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and workplace negligence. He is a
graduate of Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, and Hardin-Simmons
University in Abilene, Texas. He is admitted to practice in Texas. He is a
former resident of Tampa, FL and currently resides in Scarborough, Maine.
