(January 31, 2005 - CONCORD, NH) - Preti Flaherty’s Nicole D. Spaur
has been elected to the Board of Directors of the ALS Association, Northern New
England Chapter. The Northern New England Chapter serves the states of Maine,
New Hampshire and Vermont.
A non-profit organization, the ALS Association Northern New England Chapter,
is dedicated to providing patient services and increased public awareness about
the disease of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Often referred to as "Lou
Gehrig's disease," ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects
nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Currently there is no known cause
or cure for the disease.
“It is an honor to join the board of an organization like the ALS Association
that provides strength and support to ALS patients and their families,” said Ms.
Spaur. “The Northern New England Chapter is dedicated to heightening
public awareness about the disease and supporting community/professional
education, advocacy, and research opportunities for those affected by ALS, and I
am pleased to engage in these efforts on a more formal level.”
Ms. Spaur concentrates her practice in the areas of employment law,
regulatory and governmental services, and civil litigation. In addition to
representing employers in state and federal court, as well as before
administrative agencies, she also advises employers on various employment
matters, including employment agreements, employee handbooks, and the hiring and
discharge of employees. Ms. Spaur is also a registered lobbyist in New
Hampshire for various entities, including American International Group, Inc.,
the world’s leading international insurance and financial services
organization.
