THE WELLSPRING OF INNOVATION
Clean water is a basic requirement of life. Yet many countries still lack
safe, effective desalination and decontamination systems. The founders of
Watervap developed a solution: Heated Air Spray Evaporation (HASE)—a unique,
environmentally friendly system that removes dissolved inorganic minerals from
water with almost 100% efficiency. The global implications of HASE technology
are so profound that General Electric and Dow Jones named it the 2006 winner of
the GE/Dow Jones Environmental Business Challenge! and awarded Watervap
$50,000 in seed money.
THE NEXT WAVE OF DEVELOPMENT
Great ideas don’t solve problems by themselves. Although Watervap was looking
at a potential global market, the company needed help to take its invention from
the drawing board to the boardroom. Preti Flaherty helped Watervap formulate its
winning business plan, patent its invention and create development agreements
with business partners and end-users. We also worked closely with the company to
structure deals with customers in countries with weak intellectual property
regimes.
AN OCEAN OF OPPORTUNITY
With a viable commercial product in hand, Watervap is responding to inquiries
from oil field, mining, solid waste landfill and reverse osmosis desalination
plant companies worldwide that are interested in using HASE technology to
address wastewater discharge problems. The company hopes its invention will help
resolve the problems created by depleting water supplies and industrial
pollution, and provide more clean water for all.
