Employment Breakfast Briefing: Handling Employee Requests for Medical Leave
Employee leave laws are confusing, and even the most seasoned Human Resources professionals can struggle with the application of these laws to the myriad of scenarios that arise in the workplace. This program will provide a basic overview of the leave laws, and guide attendees through a challenging hypothetical that will generate an interactive discussion of the following:
- The interaction between FMLA and ADA reasonable accommodation obligations;
- How to determine the true nature and extent of the employee’s need for leave, particularly when the employee fails to provide clear and complete information;
- How to protect against or counter abuse of intermittent leave;
- Managing the poor performing employee with a health condition protected by FMLA and/or ADA
