Business Law, Labor and Employment, Litigation
Jeffrey W. Peters works primarily from our Portland, Maine office. He
is a member of the firm’s business law, employment law, and litigation practice
groups, and he chairs the firm’s Technology Committee.
Mr. Peters concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, business law,
employment law and real estate law. He is litigation counsel and
relationship manager to Bath Iron Works Corporation, one of the firm’s major
clients. He is also litigation counsel to Hussey Seating
Company. Mr. Peters has developed expertise in electronic discovery and
the impact of technology on employment issues. In addition to his trial
practice, Mr. Peters counsels clients on a variety of issues relating to
litigation management, employment, and business issues. He assists Bath
Iron Works Corporation in managing and coordinating the defense of its asbestos
cases on a national level.
Mr. Peters is an adjunct professor of Aviation Law at Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University. He also teaches trial advocacy and military law
topics at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island.
Mr. Peters is a 1985 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and a 1993
graduate of the University of Maine School of Law. While at the University
of Maine School of Law Mr. Peters was managing editor of the Ocean and
Coastal Law Journal. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Peters
practiced as a navy lawyer in the United States Navy JAG Corps. He
continues to serve as a Commander in the Navy Reserve JAG.
Mr. Peters resides in Brunswick with his wife and children. He serves
on the Brunswick Planning Board, and is the immediate past Chair of the Southern
Midcoast Maine Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Peters is a life member of the
U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, President of the Maine Chapter of the
U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, a member of the Naval Institute and the
Navy League.
