Bio

Stephen E. F. Langsdorf concentrates in the representation of businesses and municipalities.  He specializes in civil litigation and employment law before administrative agencies, in arbitrations and in court. He appears often before the Maine Human Rights Commission and Federal and State courts on employment matters and civil rights laws. His work also includes an emphasis on land use law, petroleum law, contract disputes, voting rights, consumer credit cases, product liability and criminal and civil environmental litigation.

He has been lead counsel in more than twenty jury trials and has argued twenty or more cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He is currently Corporation Counsel for the City of Augusta and attends Council, Planning Board and committee meetings.  He also writes ordinances and provides legal opinions as General Counsel to other municipalities, oil dealers, manufacturers, automobile dealers and businesses.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in the Washington, D.C., area. He graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in philosophy and history and in 1986 earned his law degree from the University of Texas.

He joined Preti Flaherty in 1986, became a Member in 1996 and an Equity Member in 1997.

He is a member of the Kennebec County, Maine State and American Bar Associations and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Maine at Augusta Foundation and is a former board member of FORUM-A, an Augusta-based arts organization. He is a former chairman of the Town of Sidney Board of Tax Appeals.

He lives in Hallowell, Maine, with his wife, Jeanne, and children, Natasha and Austin.
