Alexandra Serra joined Preti Flaherty’s Augusta office as Government
Relations Liaison in 2006. She is a registered lobbyist associate and is active
in the firm’s legislative practice by monitoring all legislation pertinent to
client interests and advocating for clients before legislative committees.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex completed a clerkship with The Honorable John
Beliveau of the 8th District Court in Lewiston, and served as a law
clerk for a small Maine firm. Before entering the legal field, Alex worked in
television as a news reporter, assignment desk editor and associate producer.
Alex is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law where she earned
her J.D. in 2002. During law school, she served as a research assistant in
Intellectual Property and completed a summer clerkship with a mid-sized Portland
firm. She is also a graduate of Smith College, where she earned her B.A. in
history in 1998.
Immediately following graduation from Smith, Alex worked as a political
fundraiser in New York City. While in college, she completed political
internships in Washington D.C. and New York State and served as President of a
Smith College political organization for two years. She was also a reporter for
the Smith College newspaper, The Sophian, for two years.
