Oxford County Casino Gains 122 Additional Votes
Oxford, Maine (December 13, 2010) - Black Bear Entertainment announced today that an official recount has confirmed that the "yes" votes gained a majority of the votes in the November 2nd election. In the largest recount in decades, with 132,000 ballots counted, comprising 23 percent of the vote, the supports of the Oxford County Casino initiative not only confirmed victory but picked up an additional 122 votes. CasinosNO and OhNo on One conceded their loss today after recounting Oxford County.
Dan Walker and Andy Cashman of Preti Flaherty Beliveau & Pachios, one of Maine's largest law firms, represented Black Bear Entertainment, the Oxford casino ownership group during the recount. Plans are moving forward to complete the casino's licensing and permitting which would allow construction to remain on track for an anticipated opening of the first phase of operations by late 2011.
