Governor LePage Nominates Darryl Brown to Head Maine DEP

Governor Paul LePage today announced the nomination of Darryl Brown as Commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Brown is a former Maine State Legislator and head of a land development firm.
"It needs to get easier to do business in Maine," LePage said as he announced that Darryl Brown, a former legislator and head of a land development firm, as his nominee for commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection. "We just need to get to an end line and decision quicker."
Brown, also a former assistant professor of soils at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., listed as one of his top priorities at DEP cutting in half the time it takes to approve permits. He also promised a complete review of all regulations to eliminate duplication, and to pass to municipalities some regulatory oversight.
In addition, Brown promised a "to put on a friendly face" in the DEP.
