CAS for Sport to hear Professional Tennis Player Robert Kendrick's Appeal of ITF Sanction on Aug 18
08.11.2011
Preti Flaherty, a law firm headquartered in Portland, Maine, and Hodgson Russ, a law firm headquartered in Buffalo, New York, announced today that professional tennis player Robert Kendrick's appeal of a 12-month sanction issued against him by the International Tennis Federation will be heard before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in New York City on August 18, 2011 (CAS 2011/A/2518 Robert Kendrick v. International Tennis Federation).
Brent Nowicki, who represents Mr. Kendrick with co-counsel Paul Greene, said, "This is the underdog story of the U.S. Open. The tennis community's overwhelming support for Robert has been amazing. Teammates, competitors, and fans from all over the world are calling for Robert's return for his last U.S. Open. The tennis community has set up a "FREE KENDO" Facebook page to support his return.
Preti Flaherty sports law attorney Paul Greene added, "Robert is extremely grateful that the Court of Arbitration for Sport has assembled a world-class Tribunal for an emergency hearing that will give him the chance to play in the U.S. Open."
Both Mr. Nowicki and Mr. Greene are hopeful that the Court of Arbitration for Sport will reduce the 12-month sanction issued against Mr. Kendrick and permit him to make an inspired run in the U.S. Open in front of his family, friends, fans, and new daughter.
