Criterium Engineers of Portland, Maine Awarded $3.6 Million in Breach of Contract Dispute

PORTLAND, ME (July 27, 2009) – Criterium Engineers announced today that an arbitrator has awarded the company $3.6 million in a contract dispute with Qualitybuilt.com, a former partner in a business venture that soured. Criterium Engineers was represented by attorneys at the law firm Preti Flaherty, headquartered in Portland, Maine.
As part of the binding decision, the arbitrator also rejected all claims, which included claims of up to $10 million in damages, made by Qualitybuilt.com against Criterium Engineers.
A team of Preti Flaherty attorneys, led by Timothy J. Bryant, represented Criterium Engineers, a Portland, Maine based company, in this complex commercial litigation case. Preti Flaherty successfully proved that Criterium Engineers had performed its duties under the contract and deserved payment for those services. The arbitrator's May 26 ruling followed a three-week hearing earlier this year in San Diego.
The $3.6 million award included the money owed by Qualitybuilt.com to Criterium for services rendered, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees.
