BIOGRAPHY
Alfred A. Minahan is president of Preti Minahan Strategies, a strategic consulting subsidiary of Preti Flaherty. Based in Boston, MA, Al works closely with the firm's Legislative, Regulatory and Governmental Services Group on a broad range of government affairs and public relations issues. A former state legislator, Al helps to sustain independent business owners by advocating for clients who must intersect government to achieve their business goals.

Al also works independently with clients of Preti Minahan Strategies on public relations, crisis management consulting and government affairs. By creating and implementing public relations strategies, Al presents his clients as thought leaders in their fields, across varying industries.

Prior to launching his consulting career, Al won the election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1977 and held office for seven years. He also served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corp (JVC) from 1975-6. Al graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1975.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Represented the New England Service Station and Retailers Association (NESSARA) when the Commonwealth of Massachusetts created the 21 J Program in 1986, a precedent-setting used to reimburse service stations for costs associated with environmental clean-up of leaky underground gasoline storage tanks.
  • His successful advocacy has benefited clients such as Accenture, Aramark, the American Cancer Society and the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.
